The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, India, reported that the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a year-on-year growth of 3.5 percent in July 2025, with the base year as 2011-12=100. This is an increase from the 1.5 percent growth in June 2025. The IIP stands at 155.0 in July 2025, compared to 149.8 in July 2024.
Key sector growth rates for July 2025 are: Mining at 7.2 percent, Manufacturing at 5.4 percent, and Electricity at 0.6 percent. Within the manufacturing sector, 14 out of 23 industry groups at the NIC 2-digit level exhibited positive growth compared to July 2024. The top three positive contributors within manufacturing were: Manufacture of basic metals (12.7%), Manufacture of electrical equipment (15.9%), and Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (9.5%).
As per the use-based classification, the indices for July 2025 are: Primary Goods (147.6), Capital Goods (119.7), Intermediate Goods (174.1), Infrastructure/Construction Goods (201.0), Consumer Durables (136.3), and Consumer Non-Durables (147.8). The corresponding growth rates are 1.7 percent, 5.0 percent, 5.8 percent, 11.9 percent, 7.7 percent, and 0.5 percent respectively. The top three positive contributors to the growth of IIP based on use-based classification are Infrastructure/Construction Goods, Intermediate Goods, and Consumer Durables.
The figures for June 2025 have undergone final revision due to updated data from source agencies. The quick estimates for July 2025 and the final revision for June 2025 were compiled at weighted response rates of 89.5 percent and 93.1 percent, respectively.

PRODUCTION AND USE-BASED INDEX FOR THE
MONTH OF JULY 2025

Driven by 5.4% growth in manufacturing sector,
Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a 3.5 %
year-on-year growth in July 2025

As per the revised calendar, the Quick Estimate of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) will now be released

on 28 of every month (or next working day if 28 is a holiday). The index is compiled with data received
from source agencies, which in turn receive the data from the producing factories/ establishments. These
Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.
2. Key Highlights:
i. The IIP growth rate for the month of July 2025 is 3.5 percent which was 1.5 percent (Quick Estimate) in
the month of June 2025.
ii. The growth rates of the three sectors, Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity for the month of July 2025
are (-) 7.2 percent, 5.4 percent and 0.6 percent respectively.
iii. The Quick Estimates of IIP stands at 155.0 against 149.8 in July 2024. The Indices of Industrial
Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of July 2025 stand at
107.7, 156.9 and 221.5 respectively.
iv. Within the manufacturing sector, 14 out of 23 industry groups at NIC 2 digit-level have recorded a
positive growth in July 2025 over July 2024. The top three positive contributors for the month of July
2025 are – “Manufacture of basic metals” (12.7%), “Manufacture of electrical equipment” (15.9%) and
“Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” (9.5%).
v. In the industry group “Manufacture of basic metals”, item groups “MS slabs”, “HR coils and sheets of
mild steel” and “Flat products of Alloy Steel” have shown significant contribution in growth.
vi. In the industry group “Manufacture of electrical equipment”, item groups “Electric heaters”,
“Electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits (e.g switchgear, circuitbreakers/switches, control/ meter panel)”, and “Transformers (Small)” have shown significant
contribution in growth.
vii. In the industry group “Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” item groups “Cement- all
types”, “Cement Clinkers” and “Marble slab polished or not” have shown significant contribution in
growth.
viii. As per the use base classification, the indices stand at 147.6 for Primary Goods, 119.7 for Capital
Goods, 174.1 for Intermediate Goods and 201.0 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month
of July 2025. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 136.3
and 147.8 respectively.
ix. The corresponding growth rates of IIP as per Use-based classification in July 2025 over July 2024 are
(-)1.7 percent in Primary goods, 5.0 percent in Capital goods, 5.8 percent in Intermediate goods, 11.9
percent in Infrastructure/ Construction Goods, 7.7 percent in Consumer durables and 0.5 percent in
Consumer non-durables (Statement III). Based on use-based classification, top three positive
contributors to the growth of IIP for the month of July 2025 are Infrastructure/ construction goods,
Intermediate goods and Consumer durables.
x. Monthly Indices and Growth Rate (in %) of IIP for the last 13 months
3. Along with the Quick Estimate of IIP for the month of July 2025, the indices for June 2025 have
undergone final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies.
4. The Quick Estimates for July 2025 and the final revision for June 2025 have been compiled at weighted
response rates of 89.5 percent and 93.1 percent.
5. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2025 at Sectoral,
2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at
Statements I, II and III respectively. Also, for users to appreciate the changes in the industrial sector,
