The Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare released a progress report on area coverage under Kharif crops as of October 3, 2025. The Kharif crop sowing exceeds 1121 lakh hectare. Urad sowing area registered growth of 6.5%. Boost is expected in millet production as maize sowing area increases by more than 12% this year.

* **Rice:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 403.09, 2025-26: 441.58, 2024-25: 435.68, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: 5.90
* **Pulses:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 129.61, 2025-26: 120.41, 2024-25: 119.04, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: 1.37
* **Coarse Cereals:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 180.71, 2025-26: 194.67, 2024-25: 183.54, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: 11.13
* **Oilseeds:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 194.63, 2025-26: 190.13, 2024-25: 200.75, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: -10.62
* **Sugarcane:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 52.51, 2025-26: 59.07, 2024-25: 57.22, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: 1.86
* **Jute and Mesta:** Normal Area (2019-20 to 2023-24): 6.60, 2025-26: 5.56, 2024-25: 5.75, Increase(+)/Decrease(-) over 2024-25: -0.18
