NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by the Section-3 read with Section-9 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, the Town Municipal Area of Maddur of Mandya District including Chamanahalli and Deshahalli of Chamanahalli Gram panchayat, Rudrakshipura, Somanahalli, K.Kodihalli and Agaralinganadoddi of Somanahalli Gram Panchayat, Gejjalagere of Gejjalagere Gram Panchayat and Goravanahalli of Goravanahalli Gram Panchayat is proposed to be notified as the “Smaller Urban Area” as mentioned in the Schedule “A” along with boundaries mentioned in the Schedule “B” and further to be declared as the “City Municipal Council of Maddur” and constitute the City Municipal Council to the said smaller urban area with effect from the date of publishing this Notification in the Official Gazette by His Excellency, the Governor of Karnataka for the purpose of administration having regard to: i. The population of such area is not less than fifty thousand; ii. The density of population in such area is not less than one thousand five hundred inhabitants to one square kilo meter of area; iii. The revenue generated for local administration from such area from tax and non-tax sources in the year of the last preceding census is not less than rupees nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees forty-five per capita per annum, whichever is higher; iv. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less than fifty per cent of the total employment. The notification is hereby published for the information of the Public. All the persons, who would like to file any objection/suggestion to this Notification are hereby required to submit the same with reasons in writing to the Director, Directorate of Municipal Administration, 9th Floor, V.V.Tower, Bengaluru within 30 days from publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette. Further, Notification will be taken up for final consideration after the mentioned period of 30 days.
