**Policy Summary: MICE Tourism Development in India**
The Ministry of Tourism is actively promoting India as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism destination. While the development and promotion of specific tourist destinations and products, including MICE, is primarily the responsibility of State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, the Ministry supports these efforts through various initiatives. These include promoting India as a holistic tourism destination via social media and websites, and formulating a National Strategy and Roadmap for the MICE Industry.
The Ministry of Tourism also provides financial assistance to State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, and Central Agencies for tourism-related infrastructure development, including convention centers.
As of August 4, 2025, projects sanctioned for the development of convention centers and associated infrastructure under various Ministry of Tourism schemes include:
* **Chhattisgarh:** Development of Mayali Bagicha as Eco Convention Hall (₹9.97 Crore, 2025, CBDD Scheme).
* **Arunachal Pradesh:** Siang Adventure Eco Convention Centre Retreat, Pasighat (₹46.48 Crore, 2024, SASCI Scheme).

Development and promotion of tourist destinations and products, including MICE tourism, is primarily the
responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. However, as part of
its on-going activities, the Ministry of Tourism regularly promotes India as a holistic tourism destination
including MICE tourism through various mediums including social media and websites.
Ministry of Tourism identified MICE as one of the important segments of Tourism. Ministry has also
formulated a National Strategy and Roadmap for MICE Industry to promote the growth of MICE industry in
the country.
The Ministry of Tourism provides financial assistance to State Governments/Union
TerritoryAdministrations/Central Agencies for the development of tourism related infrastructure in the
country under its schemes. (List of Projects sanctioned for development of Convention centers and associated
