From the Director General & Inspector General of Prisons & Correctional Services, A.P., Hyderabad, Letter No.EB.3/634/2005, dated 16-12-2010. 2. Home (Prisons) Dept., U.O.No. 37758/Pri./A1/2010, dt. 27.3.2012. * * * O R D E R: The Director General & Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, A.P, Hyderabad, in the reference read above has informed that the present average lock up of Sub Jail, Grade -II, Chittoor is 350 and the present sanctioned staff is not sufficient to guard this heavy lock up. The Sub Jail Grade-II, Chittoor, has the necessary infrastructure needed for a District Jail, like 21’’ high wall with 2 barracks and 8 cells and separate enclosures for females, kitchen, Hospital Barrack for sick prisoners, double gate system, interview room, administrative block with facilities for day and night toilets etc. Recently an amount of Rs.100.00 Lakhs was spent for creation of additional infrastructure. The Director General (Prisons) has also informed that the Sub Jail Grade-II Chittoor, has been fully developed to that of District Prison but with meager staff. Consequent to the construction of new barracks in the present premises, the old Sub Jail, Chittoor, was closed and in that place staff quarters (10 No.s) were constructed under Perspective Plan on Prison Reforms. 2. Hence, the Director General & Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, A.P, Hyderabad, requested for upgradation of the Sub Jail, Grade-II, Chittoor, as District Jail. Based on the proposal of the DG&IG Prisons & Correctional Services, the Home Department has proposed for creation of twenty-nine (29) additional posts on regular basis and six (06) posts on out sourcing basis for up-grading the Sub Jail, Grade-II, Chittoor, to that of District Jail, Chittoor. The Government, after careful examination of the matter, hereby sanction twenty-nine (29) additional posts on regular basis and six (06) posts on Outsourcing basis to the District Jail, Chittoor as shown in the Annexure. 3. The Home Department are advised to issue formal orders for establishment of a District Jail at Chittoor duly abolishing the existing old Sub-Jail, Chittoor and Sub-Jail, Grade-II, Chittoor. 4. The Home (Prisons) Department, the Director General & Inspector General of Prisons & Correctional Services, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, shall take further action in the matter accordingly duly following the prescribed Rules and Procedures.
