Designed to bring the joy of scientific exploration to students and visitors, the gallery adds a new dimension to the Centre’s mission of promoting experiential learning. Nehru Science Centre - the largest science centre under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India - was inaugurated on 11 November 1985 by former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. With its dynamic exhibits and immersive zones, the new gallery is poised to become one of the most engaging attractions for students, educators, families, and science enthusiasts.The gallery was inaugurated by Prof. Jayaram N. Chengalur, Director, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Colaba, Mumbai. Also present on the occasion were Shri Umesh Kumar, Director, Nehru Science Centre, along with an enthusiastic audience of over 300 school students and visitors. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Jayaram N. Chengalur highlighted the importance of experiential learning in science. He noted that scientific concepts are best understood when learners ask questions, explore how things work, and engage directly with hands-on exhibits.
