The National Institute of Watersports (NIWS) – Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel
Management (IITTM), Goa Campus, successfully conducted a specialised “Lifesaving
Techniques – Pool/Beach/Open Water” course for officials of the Indian Navy
Physical Training School from March 23 to 28, 2026.
The intensive training covered key modules such as Pool Lifeguard Techniques,
Beach Lifeguard and Surfboard Rescue, Open Water Rescue, and Power Boat
Handling (Tiller).
The course focused on enhancing practical skills in rescue operations, casualty
handling, and emergency response in aquatic environments. All participants
displayed high levels of discipline and professionalism and are now better equipped
to handle water-related emergencies effectively.
A total of 14 trainees participated in the programme, including personnel from the
Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Mauritius Police Force and Sri Lankan Navy.
