On the occasion of International Women's Day, the National Film Development
Corporation of India, through the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC),
organised a special conversation celebrating the inspiring journeys and contributions
of women in cinema.
The programme was organised by NMIC–NFDC in the presence of Managing
Director, Shri Prakash Magdum, and General Manager, Shri D. Ramakrishna.
Renowned actor Smt Khushboo Sundar was the guest for the session and shared
her experiences in a conversation with Smt Gouri Nair (Head Programming and
Master Class). The programme was gracefully compered by Smt Debjani Smith. The
event was held at the museum and was attended by staff members, film enthusiasts
and guests.
At the beginning of the event, Managing Director Shri Prakash Magdum felicitated
Smt Khushboo Sundar and welcomed her to the National Museum of Indian
Cinema. During the engaging conversation, Smt Khushboo Sundar spoke about
the importance of self-respect and personal decision-making for women. She
emphasised that every woman should understand when to say “No,” as it is animportant matter of personal choice and dignity. She also shared that many key
decisions in her life were guided by her inner voice and encouraged women to trust
their instincts and respect themselves first.
During the discussion, Smt Khushboo Sundar also reflected on her remarkable
journey in the film industry. She began her career as a child artist in Hindi cinema
and later became one of the most celebrated actors in South Indian cinema,
particularly in Tamil films, while also working in Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Her
performances earned her immense popularity and a strong fan following. Over the
years, she expanded her career into television, production and social engagement.
She eventually entered public life and politics, continuing to play an influential role
beyond the film industry.
The moderator, Smt Gouri Nair (Head Programming and Master Class), led the
discussion with insightful questions that brought out many interesting aspects of
Smt Khushboo Sundar’s life and career. The session concluded with a vote of
