NOTIFICATION Whereas the Notification to upgrade the Town Municipal Council Area of Malur of Kolar District mentioned in Schedule-A along with boundaries mentioned in Schedule-B was published as required by section-3 read with section-9 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, vide Government Notification No:UDD 72 MLR 2025, dated 04/06/2025 by providing thirty days time and was published in part-III, No.337, Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary, dated 05/06/2025 inviting objections from all persons likely to be affected thereby on or before thirty days from the date of publication of the above Notification. And whereas the Notification was made available to the public on the day of publication; And whereas no objection/suggestion has been received within the stipulated period; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section-3 9 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, the Hon’ble Governor, hereby declare the Town Municipal Council Area of Malur, Kolar District as mentioned in Schedule–A, along with boundaries mentioned in Schedule–B, as the “Smaller Urban Area” and further specifying such area to be the “City Municipal Council of Malur” having regard to: i. The population of such area is not less than fifty thousand; ii. The density of population in such area is not less than one thousand five hundred inhabitants to one square kilo meter of area; iii. The revenue generated for local administration from such area from tax and non-tax sources in the year of the last preceding census is not less than rupees nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees forty-five per capita per annum, whichever is higher; iv. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less than fifty per cent of the total employment.
