2. डीन (cid:7021)कूल बोड(cid:6981) और (cid:7021)कूल के एडवां(cid:7021)ड (cid:7021)टडी और (cid:7407)रसच(cid:6981) सिमित का अ(cid:7007)य(cid:6979) होगा।
3. डीन को जैसी ि(cid:7021)थित हो, (cid:7021)कूल के िवभाग(cid:7298)/के(cid:7008)(cid:7076)/बोड(cid:6981) ऑफ (cid:7021)टडीज या सिमित क(cid:7409) (cid:7408)कसी भी बैठक म(cid:7286) (cid:7079)(cid:7021)तुत करने और बोलने का

special knowledge of or expertise in the concerned subject and who are not
employees of the University or of any of its institutions.

supervise the work of such Committees, whose composition, powers and functions
shall be prescribed by Regulations
c.(cid:32) To approve the courses of study of various Programmes including research degrees
offered by the Departments
d.(cid:32) To recommend to the Executive Council the names of examiners for the evaluation
of the courses, dissertation, and thesis after considering proposals received from the
Board of Studies of the Departments/Centres (and the CASR in the case of thesis and
dissertation) in that regard.
e.(cid:32) To recommend to the Academic Council, creation or abolition of teachings posts
after considering proposals received from the Departments/Centre and Committees
mentioned in clause (b) above.
f.(cid:32) To recommend the suggestions of the Board of Studies to the Academic Council
regarding the award of research degree to candidate who have been adjudged to be
fit to receive such degree in accordance with the ordinances framed in that behalf
g.(cid:32) To frame the general time-table of the School
h.(cid:32) To consider and act on any proposal regarding the welfare of the students of the
school
i.(cid:32) To consider schemes for the advancement of the standards of teaching and research

j.(cid:32) To perform all other functions which may be prescribed by the Act, Statutes and
Ordinances and to consider all such matters as may be referred to it by the Executive
Council, the Academic Council or the Vice-Chancellor
k.(cid:32) To promote research within the School and to submit reports on research to the
Academic Council
l.(cid:32) To delegate to the Dean or to any other member of the Board or to a Committee such
powers, general or specific, as may be decided upon by the School Board from time
to time.
4.(cid:32) Meetings of the Board shall either be ordinary or special. Ordinary meetings shall be
(cid:101)(cid:77)(cid:101)(cid:110)(cid:105)(cid:116)(cid:103)(cid:32)(cid:115)
held twice in a year of which one shall be held in the first quarter of the academic
session.
5.(cid:32) Special meetings may be called by the Dean on his own initiative or shall be called at
the suggestions of the Vice-Chancellor or on a written request from at least one-fifth
of the members of the Board.
6.(cid:32) The quorum for a meeting of the Board shall be one-third of its total membership. (cid:81)(cid:117)(cid:111)(cid:117)(cid:114)(cid:109)(cid:32)
7.(cid:32) Notice for the ordinary meeting of the Board shall be issued at least ten days before

the date fixed for the meeting, and for the special meetings, at least five days before
the date fixed for the meeting.

DEAN OF SCHOOL OF STUDIES

1.(cid:32) The Dean of the School shall be the Head of the School and shall be responsible for the conduct and maintenance of
the standards of teaching and research in the School.
2.(cid:32) The Dean shall be the chairperson of the School Board and the Committee for Advanced Studies and research of the
School.
3.(cid:32) The Dean shall have the right to present and to speak at any meetings of the Departments/Centre/Board of Studies or
Committee of the School, as the case may be, but shall not have the right to vote thereat unless he/she is a member
thereof.
4.(cid:32) The Dean of a School of Studies shall:
i.(cid:32) Co-ordinate and generally supervise the teaching and research work in the School through the Head of
Departments/Centres;
ii.(cid:32) Take steps to promote interdisciplinary teaching and research whenever necessary
iii.(cid:32) Maintain discipline in the school through the Heads of Departments/Centres;
iv.(cid:32) Keep a record of the evaluation of sessional work and the attendance of the students at lectures, tutorials or
seminars or Practicals whenever these are prescribed;
v.(cid:32) Arrange for the examinations of the University in respect of the students of the School in accordance with such
directions as may be given by the School Board (of School of Studies) or the Academic Council;
vi.(cid:32) Convene and preside over the meetings of the Board of the School and keep the minutes of the meetings of the
Board;
vii.(cid:32) Take steps to give effect to the decisions and recommendations of the school and perform such other duties as
may be assigned to him/her by Academic Council, the Executive Council or the Vice-Chancellor.
5.(cid:32) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Ordinance, the Vice-Chancellor may take suitable action as deemed
necessary to overcome difficulties, if any, faced in the implementation of academic programmes subject to approval

(a)(cid:32) In addition to the members enumerated under Statute 15 (5) (b) (i) to (iv), the following shall
also be the members of the department under Statute 15 (5) (b) (v):
(i)(cid:32) One teacher of the University who is an expert in allied or cognate subjects dealt within the
Department or Centre to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor for the period of three years.
Provided that no such teacher shall be nominated as a member of more than two Departments or
Centres.
1. (b)(cid:32) The implementation of the Choice Based Credit System shall be the responsibility of the
Department in terms of the Choice Based Credit System Regulations.
1. (c)(cid:32) For the purpose of finalization of grades after end semester examinations, the programme
committee may include the external examiners, if any.
(a)(cid:32) Every Head of Department/Centre shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from amongst the

Professors in the Department/Centre for a period of three years.
Provided that in case there is only one Professor or no Professors in a Department/Centre, the Head of
the Department/Centre shall be appointed, for the time being, from among the Professors, if any,
and Associate Professors in the Department/Centre. Such appointments shall be reported to the
Executive Council.
(b)(cid:32) The Head of a Department/Centre shall hold office for a period of three years and he/she shall be
eligible for reappointment.
(c)(cid:32) Pending the appointment of a Head of Department/Centre or when the office of the Head of the
Department/Centre is vacant or when the Head of the Department/Centre is by reason of illness
or absence or any other cause, unable to perform the duties of his office, the duties of the office
shall be performed by such person the Vice-Chancellor may appoint for the purpose.
3. The Head of the Department shall convene and preside over the meetings of the Department.
4. The Head of the Department, under the general guidance of the Dean of the School, shall,
