Shri Anup Sanjay Dhotre: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) the details of achievements made under the Khelo India Scheme (KIS) during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise including in Maharashtra; (b) the total number of athletes, sports academies and educational institutions that have benefited under the said Scheme in Maharashtra, particularly Akola district; (c) the details of financial assistance sanctioned, released and utilised under the said Scheme during the said period, State/UT-wise including in Maharashtra; (d) whether the Government proposes to expand the coverage of the said Scheme to include more rural, tribal and aspirational districts across the country; and (e) if so, the details thereof including the criteria adopted for selection of beneficiaries? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS [ DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA ] (a) and (b) The details of achievements made under the Khelo India Scheme and number of Khelo India Athletes (KIA), Khelo India Accredited Academies (KIAA), Khelo India Centres (KIC), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCE) and sports disciplines covered under these centres, across the country, including in Akola district of Page 1 of 2the State of Maharashtra, are available in the public domain on the dashboard of the Ministry at https://dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in. (c) Funds are allocated and released Scheme-wise and not State/UT- wise under the Khelo India Scheme in this Ministry. The details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred under the Khelo India Scheme during the last three years and the current year, including in the State of Maharashtra, are as under: (in ₹ crore) Financial Year Funds Allocated Expenditure Incurred 2023-24 880.00 872.20 2024-25 746.54 620.75 2025-26 700.00 684.08 2026-27 924.35 257.22 (as on 15.07.2026) (d) and (e) The Government continues to expand the reach of the Khelo India Scheme across the country, including rural, tribal and aspirational districts, through creation and upgradation of sports infrastructure notification of KICs, KISCEs, KIAAs and talent identification & athlete development programmes. The Khelo India Scheme is demand-driven. Proposals received from the State/UT Governments and other eligible entities are considered for financial support subject to their completeness, technical feasibility and availability of funds under the Scheme. Selection of beneficiaries under various components of the Scheme is made in accordance with the eligibility criteria and operational guidelines prescribed for the respective components. ***** Page 2 of 2
