GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4290 TO BE ANSWERED ON 18.03.2026 ADDITIONAL PLATFORM AT AMBIKAPUR RAILWAY STATION †4290. SHRI CHINTAMANI MAHARAJ: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether construction of the sanctioned additional platform at Ambikapur railway station has not yet commenced despite completion of the tender process and award of the work under the jurisdiction of South East Central Railway and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the work could not begin due to non-availability of the site to the construction department in time by the commercial and operating departments and if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the inconvenience is being faced by passengers due to this delay and if so, the action taken against the officials responsible for the same; and (d) the concrete steps taken/being taken by the Government to commence and complete the construction of the said additional platform within a stipulated timeframe? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (d): Ambikapur Railway Station presently handles 06 pair of coaching trains per day. Average Daily passenger footfall at Ambikapur Railway Station is 4495 persons. To cater these passengers, Facilities like a high level platform, platform shelter, waiting hall, drinking water arrangement, urinal, lavatory, seating arrangement etc. are available at Ambikapur Railway Station. Further, Ambikapur Railway station has been identified for development under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. §The works taken up for redevelopment of Ambikapur station are as under:  Improvement of station building  Entrance porch  New platform shelter  Improvement of platform surface  Improvement of waiting hall and toilet  New booking counter  Circulating area and parking  Signage  Construction of a passenger platform  Construction of a loop line  Construction of 6m wide Foot Over Bridge  Provision of Coaching Maintenance/Terminal facility having provisions of 1 Pit Line, 1 Stabling line and 1 Shunting neck Completion of Railway project/s depends on various factors which include the following:  Land acquisition  Forest clearance  Shifting of infringing utilities  Statutory clearances from various authorities  Geological and topographical conditions of area  Law and order situation in the area of project site  Number of working months in a year for particular project site etc. Further, Indian Railways has a well established mechanism to monitor implementation of projects including their reviews, inspection, check for quality of works and audits. Works are carried out adhering to the standards and specifications laid down in various codes and manuals. Progress review/Inspections etc are carried out from time to time at various levels including DRMs, CAO/Cs, GMs, Railway Board Officers etc. and necessary action is taken accordingly. *****
