AGRICULTURAL SCHEMES IN TAMIL NADU

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state :
(a) the details of agricultural assistance schemes currently being implemented in Tamil Nadu,
including crop insurance, financial aid and input subsidies;
(b) the total number of farmers benefitted under these schemes in the State, district-wise;
(c) the measures taken to ensure timely disbursement of financial assistance and transparency
in implementation of schemes;
(d) the challenges faced by farmers in accessing these schemes and the steps taken by
Government to address them; and
(e) the future plans to enhance outreach, awareness and effectiveness of agricultural assistance
schemes in Tamil Nadu?

(a) to (e): Government of India is implementing a comprehensive range of Central Sector as
well as Centrally Sponsored Schemes and programmes for the welfare of farmers. These
schemes encompass entire spectrum of agriculture including credit, insurance, income support,
infrastructure, crops including horticulture, seeds, mechanization, modernization, marketing,
organic and natural farming, farmer collectives, irrigation, extension, procurement of crops
from farmers at minimum support prices and digital agriculture. List of schemes implemented
by Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA & FW) providing assistance to farmers
is attached as Annexure I. States prioritise adoption and implementation of schemes as per
local challenges & potentials. The district-wise details of beneficiaries under Central Sector
Schemes as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman
Nidhi (PM-KISAN), Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) are attached at Annexure II. The
district-wise details of beneficiaries of Centrally Sponsored Schemes are not maintained
centrally.DA&FW is implementing several schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman
Nidhi (PM-KISAN), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Modified Interest
Subvention Scheme (MISS), etc., wherein the financial assistance and subsidies are transferred
directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
mechanism to ensure transparency, reduce leakages, and provide timely benefits to farmers.
The Government is continuously reviewing these schemes and taking steps to expand DBT
coverage wherever feasible, in consultation with State Governments and other stakeholders.
The Government of India implements various outreach and awareness initiatives
through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), agricultural universities, field demonstrations, Kisan
Melas, seminars, and District Resource Centres. These efforts aim to enhance the reach,
awareness, and effectiveness of agricultural assistance schemes. Additionally, the Government
periodically reviews and takes necessary measures to address challenges faced by farmers in
accessing these schemes.ANNEXURE I
