Will the Minister of HEALTH andFAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate:
(a) whether Tamil Nadu’s Health institutions have been included in AI tools pilots like CDSS,
MadhuNetrAI, CA-TB, surveillance systems andVoice-to-Text and if so, the detailsthereof;
(b) whether the Government hasallocatedfunds toTamil Nadu underAyushmanBharat Digital
Mission and AI health initiatives during the last five years and if so, the details thereof along
with the proposed State-specific grants, if any;
(c) whether the Government has assessed deployment of AI to address Tamil Nadu’sworkforce
shortages andrural gapsbeyondCentral institutions andif so, detailsthereof;
(d) whether safeguards exist for data privacy, consent, Tamil language compatibility and AI
accountabilityin nationalplatformsandif so, detailsthereof; and
(e) whether the Government proposes to establish an AI Healthcare Centre of Excellence in
Tamil Nadu andif so, the detailsthereof?

(a) to(e): ‘ClinicalDecision SupportSystem’ (CDSS) integratedineSanjeevani national
telemedicine services and ‘Media Disease Surveillance’ (MDS) AI solution embedded in the
‘Integrated Health Information Platform’ (IHIP) under the Integrated Disease
Surveillance Program are implemented nationwide including Tamil Nadu. CDSS since its
inception in March 2023 till Feb 2026 has supported 59 million eSanjeevani consultatios in
Tamil Nadu. Similarly, ‘Media Disease Surveillance’ since its inception in 2022 till Feb
2026 has supported 314 AI assisted media alerts sent tothe state of Tamil Nadu. These also
support Tamil language.ABDM is a central sector scheme, under which states and union territories are provided funds
for supporting human resources deployed for ABDM implementation, capacity building of
various stakeholders and IEC (information, education & communication). Atotal amount of Rs
8.47crore has beenreleasedtothe state of Tamil Nadu for the implementation of ABDM inthe

Safeguards for data privacy, consent and AI accountability are ensured through data
anonymization, user consents and human in the loop approach with adherence to applicable
standards and government policies, including AI Governance guidelines by MeitY, ethical
guidelines for application of AI in biomedical research and healthcare by ICMR, Information
Technology Act 2000, Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Rules framed thereunder, and
cybersecurityguidelinesbythe Department of HealthandFamilyWelfare. .
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to drive
transformative change in public health services across India. The Ministry of Health has
designatedAIIMS Delhi, PGIMER ChandigarhandAIIMS Rishikesh as ‘Centre of Excellence
(CoE) for Artificial Intelligence’. The key objective of AI initiative of ‘Center of Excellence’
istopromote development anduse of AI-based solutions inHealth.
