GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 4007 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 30th March 2026 AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AND EXPANSION DELAYS 4007. SHRI MANAS RANJAN MANGARAJ Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether several ongoing airport expansion projects are running behind schedule; (b) if so, the reasons for the delay; (c) the revised timelines for completion of each project; and (d) steps taken to ensure timely completion without cost escalation? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (d): The airport expansion projects sometimes face delays due to factors such as land acquisition challenges, pending statutory and environmental clearances, financial closure by developers and unforeseen site-specific issues including adverse weather, waterlogging etc. Revised timelines for completion are determined on a case-to-case basis, depending upon the resolution of constraints and the progress of the respective projects. To address delays in infrastructure projects, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) conduct regular project review meetings at headquarters and project sites in coordination with project in-charges and executing agencies. ******
