KALANIDHI VEERASWAMY, HON’BLE MEMBER OF LOK SABHA (a) Funds are allocated Scheme-wise and not State-wise in this Ministry. The details of funds allocated under various Sports Development Schemes of the Department of Sports across the country, including under Khelo India, National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and infrastructure development, during the last three years are as under: (amount in ₹ crore) Financial Year Funds allocated 2024-25 2332.50 2023-24 2380.86 2022-23 1907.69 The details of the sports infrastructure sanctioned under Khelo India Scheme and NSDF, across the country, are available in public domain on the dashboard of the Ministry at https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in and http://www.nsdf.yas.gov.in/nsdf-glance.html, respectively. (b) to (d) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of development of sports, including strengthening of sports infrastructure, training academies and talent identification, rests primarily with the State/Union Territory Governments. The Union Government supplements their efforts by bridging critical gaps. The schemes of this Ministry are demand-driven under which financial assistance is considered for proposals received from State/UT Governments and eligible entities based on clear criteria, including the completeness of the proposal, its technical feasibility, and the availability of resources. Financial assistance is provided to State Governments primarily under various components of the Khelo India Scheme. In addition, funds under the Schemes of this Department are released as per the various criteria viz. receipt of Utilisation Certificates (UCs) and other related documents. To promote sports across the country, including the strengthening of sports infrastructure, training academies, and talent identification in the Southern States, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports implements several key initiatives. These include the Khelo India - National Programme for Development of Sports, Assistance to National Sports Federations, National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), and running Sports Training Centres through the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
