GIRIRAJAN: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) Whether the Central Government has increased the budgetary allocations to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out all its activities and for increasing the employee strength, purchase of vehicles, installation and commissioning of CCTVs, light and sound with AV systems, and if so, the details thereof: (b) The details of budgetary allocations made exclusively to ASI during the last three years, year-wise; and (c) the steps taken by Government to increase the Budgetary allocations to various circles and sub-circles of ASI particularly in Tamil Nadu? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTUREAND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) A statement is laid on the table of the House. to (c)STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (c) OF THE RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 222 FOR 12.03.2026 (a) Yes, the Central Government has increased the budgetary allocations to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out all its activities and for & increasing the employee strength, purchase of vehicles, installation and commissioning of CCTVs, light and sound with AV systems. Details of total (b) budgetary allocations during the last three years are as under: Financial Year Final Budget Allocation (Rs in Cr) 2022-23 1040.57 2023-24 1158.77 2024-25 1236.66 (c) ASI takes up all relevant activities related to conservation of monuments, development of museums, exploration, and excavation at archaeological sites across the country including the state of Tamil Nadu which has two circles i.e Chennai and Tiruchirapalli. Regular budget is allocated to both these circles on requirement basis to carry out various activities of ASI. Total Budgetary allocation for Chennai and Tiruchirapalli circles during the last three years are as under: (In Crs) Financial Year 2022-23 2023-24 2024-25 Tiruchirapalli Circle 16.12 17.55 14.43 Chennai Circle 22.22 23.76 26.56 *****
