SMT SULATA DEO Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether apprenticeship programmes in airport ground handling and air traffic services are being expanded in the State of Odisha; and (b) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER Minister of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu) (a) & (b): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. ******STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) AND (B) IN RESPECT OF RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 380 FOR REPLY ON 30.03.2026 REGARDING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMMES IN AIRPORT GROUND HANDLING AND AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES ASKED BY SMT SULATA DEO (a) and (b): Apprenticeship and skill development in airport ground handling and related operational areas are undertaken by Ground Handling Agencies (GHAs) as part of their operational requirements. GHAs recruit personnel and impart necessary training, including structured classroom training, on-the-job training and periodic refresher programmes. Further, skilling initiatives encompass a wide range of areas such as passenger handling, baggage management, ramp operations, safety procedures, emergency response, customer service and operation of specialised equipment. These programmes are aligned with broader Government policies on skill development and are implemented from time to time in accordance with sectoral requirements. The training and capacity building activities are also undertaken in collaboration with airlines, training institutes and other service providers associated with airport operations. Such apprenticeship and training activities are conducted across the country, including in the State of Odisha, based on operational requirements. *****
