**Summary of PLISFPI Impact in Tamil Nadu**
As of August 7, 2025, the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) has approved 8 companies with 20 projects in Tamil Nadu. (a) the number of companies/units from Tamil Nadu that have been approved or selected
under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), along
with the sectors covered;
(b) the total investment committed and the actual investment made by selected
companies/units in the said State thereunder so far;
(c) the estimated number of employment opportunities generated or likely to be generated
in the said State as a result of the scheme;
(d) the extent to which Tamil Nadu has benefitted from the scheme in terms of increasing
exports, strengthening Indian food brands abroad and attracting new food processing
industries;
(e) whether any additional proposals from Tamil Nadu are under consideration for support
thereunder and if so, the current status; and
(f) the measures taken by the Government to ensure that MSMEs and rural-based food
processing units in Tamil Nadu also benefitted from the said scheme?

(a). In Tamil Nadu, 8 companies with 20 projects covering segments of Processed Fruits
and Vegetables, Ready to Eat(RTE)/Ready to Cook(RTC) products, Marine products, Organic
and Millet products have been approved under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for
Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI).
(b). The total investment committed and the actual investment made by selected companies
under PLISFPI in Tamil Nadu is ₹444.23 crore and ₹446.68 crore, respectively.
(c). The Scheme has generated 3.39 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities
across the country. State-wise details of employment opportunities is not maintained under
PLISFPI.
(d). In Tamil Nadu, 8 companies with 20 projects have been selected under the PLISFPI,
specifically for their role in promoting Indian food products in international
markets. Significantly, the scheme has also attracted three Greenfield units in Tamil Nadu,
which are entirely new facilities.
(e). No fresh proposal is under consideration in PLISFPI.
(f). In Tamil Nadu, four applicants from MSME sector with eight units have been approved
for an incentive of Rs. 41.30 crore.
