91. SHRI TANGELLA UDAY SRINIVAS:
Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the number of projects sanctioned under the Assistance to
Central Agencies (ACA) for Tourism Infrastructure Development Scheme
during the last five years, year, Central agency, State, and district-
wise, particularly for Andhra Pradesh including Kakinada;
(b) the details of funds allocated, released, and utilised under the said
Scheme for these projects during the said period, year, Central agency,
State and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh including Kakinada;
(c) whether any new proposals from Central agencies in Andhra Pradesh
have been received under the Scheme;
(d) if so, the details thereof, along with their current status as approved or
pending and details of the funds allocated for approved projects;
(e) whether the Government has undertaken any study or assessment for the
development of new tourism destinations in coastal areas of the country;
and
(f) if so, the details thereof; and if not, the reasons therefor?

THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (b): The Ministry of Tourism under its Scheme of Assistance to Central
Agencies (ACA) for Tourism Infrastructure Development provides Central
Financial Assistance to Central Agencies for development of tourism related
infrastructure. Under the scheme, the Ministry has sanctioned a total of 66
projects amounting ₹948.78 crore including Andhra Pradesh. Out of these 14projects have been sanctioned during the last five years the details of which
is annexed.
(c) to (d): No new proposals have been received from central agencies in
Andhra Pradesh under the scheme. Receiving proposals from the Central
Agencies for financial assistance for tourism projects is a continuous
process. The proposals received are examined with reference to the
prescribed guidelines and financial assistance is extended for such projects
subject to fulfilment of the stipulated conditions and availability of funds.
(e) to (f): The Ministry of Tourism has not undertaken any study or
assessment for the development of new tourism destinations in coastal areas
of the country. However, the Ministry encourages state
Governments/UTs/Central Agencies to submit DPRs and feasibility studies for
project proposals. These studies are examined, evaluated and taken into
consideration by the Ministry during the sanctioning of the projects.
