Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-

region;
(b) the manner in which airport development in neighbouring States including Haryana
complements national growth; and
(c) whether integrated transport planning is being undertaken to enhance connectivity
between Haryana and major airports?
ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar
Mohol)
(a) to (b): Expansion / modernisation of airport infrastructure is a continuous process
undertaken by the Airport Operator(s) depending upon traffic demand, land availability,
commercial feasibility, operational requirements for safety of aircraft operation and demand
from airlines, etc.
IGI Airport, Delhi is an operational airport and the airport operator has expanded and
upgraded the airport with a capacity to handle 105 Million Passengers Per Annuam (MPPA).
In Uttar Pradesh, Hindon Airport is operational (0.5 MPPA) and a new greenfield
international airport (12 MPPA) is upcoming at Noida (Jewar). Hisar Airport (0.21 MPPA),
situated in the State of Haryana, is also an operational airport.
Airports have emerged as a nucleus of economic activities and have multiplier effect on the
economy of the State. The linkage between the Civil Aviation Sector and Economic Growth
is well recognised. International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) study shows that the air
connectivity has an economic multiplier of 3.25 and employment multiplier of 6.1.
(c): Road connectivity to Haryana is provided through major roads and expressways serving
both IGI Airport, Delhi and the upcoming Noida Airport. The Dwarka Expressway connects
Delhi and Gurugram with access to IGI Airport, while the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
enhances connectivity from Haryana to IGI catchment. Further, the Yamuna Expressway nearNoida Airport connects with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, providing access to
Faridabad, which also connects with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway through an interchange.
