GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 890 ( TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 23rd July 2026 ) AVIATION SAFETY AT SILCHAR AIRPORT 890. SHRI PARIMAL SUKLABAIDYA Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether the Government has undertaken any assessment of aviation safety and regulatory oversight at Silchar Airport during the last three years and if so, the details thereof; (b) the steps taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to strengthen flight operations oversight, runway safety, surveillance and emergency preparedness at Silchar Airport; (c) whether any digital systems for real-time monitoring of flight operations, incident reporting and safety compliance have been introduced or upgraded at Silchar Airport and if so, the details thereof; and (d) whether the Government proposes to upgrade safety infrastructure, navigation aids and operational facilities at Silchar Airport to meet international aviation safety standards and if so, the details thereof and timeline therefor? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (d) Silchar Airport is a Civil Enclave which is not licensed by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Further, incident reporting for all licensed airports and Air Navigation Services (ANS) Centres owned/operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is already in place through the Airport Information Management System (AIMS). ******
