ANSWER
THE MINISTER OFSTATEIN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTHAND
FAMILYWELFARE
(SHRIPRATAPRAOJADHAV)
(a) and (b): Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY),
hospital empanelment is a continuous process and is undertaken by the implementing
States/UTs based on the requirements and availability of healthcare providers meeting the
criteria within a given State/UT as per empanelment guidelines of National Health Authority
(NHA).
As on 30.06.2026, a total of 37,413 hospitals are empanelled under AB-PMJAY across the
country, including 17,265 private hospitals. Of these, 1,325 private hospitals are empanelled
inaspirational districts.
Further, the participation of private hospitals under AB-PMJAY has been increasing year on
year.FromJanuary 2023toMay 2026,a total of 8,503 private hospitals are empanelledunder
the scheme. Of these, 657 private hospitals are empanelled in aspirational districts during the
same period.
The constituency-wise data is not captured under AB-PMJAY, however, the details of
hospitals empanelled under AB-PMJAY in the districts under the Pali Lok Sabha
Parliamentary Constituency (Rajasthan), Keonjhar Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency
(Odisha), and Chatra Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency (Jharkhand) can be accessed at:
https://hem.nha.gov.in/search
To improve beneficiary enrolment and enhance awareness, AB-PMJAY has adopted a
comprehensive Information, Education & Communication (IEC) and outreach strategy. The
strategy includes awareness campaigns through traditional and digital media platforms suchas newspapers, community radio, television and radio campaigns, digital displays, street
plays, mass messaging, social media, andthe dissemination of beneficiarytestimonials.
In addition, the State Health Agencies have leveraged an extensive network of frontline
workers, including Accredited Social Health Activists, Anganwadi Workers, and Anganwadi
Helpers, to undertake door-to-doorawareness campaigns, facilitate beneficiary identification,
andsupport Ayushman cardcreation, particularlyin rural andunderserved areas.
(c): As AB-PMJAY was not in force before 2018, the data comparison of female
hospitalizationisnot available.
(d): Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) is a key building block of Ayushman Bharat
Digital Mission (ABDM). It is a unique 14-digit health identifier which allows citizens to
securely access and manage their digital health records across the healthcare ecosystem. As
on20.07.2026,a totalof 94.75crore ABHAhave beencreated across the country.
