Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:-
(a) whether Government is aware that there are significant patches of uneven road surfaces on the newly constructed Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar Expressway;
(b) whether any penal actions have been taken against the contractor for such substandard construction on a newly built road; and
(c) the timeline by which the uneven surfaces on this road will be repaired? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)
(a) to (c) The Ahmedabad-Dholera (Bhavnagar) Expressway has been constructed in four packages.
Uneven road surface patches observed at a few locations has been rectified by the respective contractors in accordance with the provisions of the Contract Agreement and relevant Indian Roads Congress (IRC) guidelines at their own cost.
Since all the defects have been rectified by the Contractors at their own cost as per the obligations, no action has been taken against the contractors. *****
