GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO - 4237 ANSWERED ON - 01/04/2026 IMPLEMENTATION OF THE E-TRANSPORT MISSION MODE PROJECT 4237. SHRI LAHAR SINGH SIROYA: SHRI NARAYANA KORAGAPPA: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state: (a) number of transport-related services brought under e-Transport Mission Mode Project and extent of their adoption across States and Union Territories including Karnataka; (b) categories of services currently being delivered through faceless or contactless digital processes, including vehicle registration, driving license issuance, taxation and permit-related services; (c) technological features incorporated including use of Aadhaar authentication, eKYC, digital signatures and AI-based facial recognition; (d) details of institutional framework developed for integration of Government-to- Government, Government-to-Business and Government-to-Citizen services under the platform; and (e) expected impact on efficiency of service delivery, transparency and ease of access for citizens and transport sector stakeholders? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (e) Government in Ministry of Road Transport & Highways vide S.O. 4353(E) dated 16th September, 2022, has notified 58 online transport related services through Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis. The objective of this shift to online and digital authentication mechanisms under the e-Transport Mission Mode Project is to improve efficiency, transparency and promote ease of living of residents and enabling better access of services to the citizens while minimizing the need to physically visit Regional Transport Offices (RTOs). Implementation of provisions contained in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and rules made there under comes under the purview of concerned State/UT Governments.
