BENEFICIARIES UNDER PM-SGMBY

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) the number of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri- Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
(PMSGMBY) during the last three years in Andhra Pradesh, district and year-wise;
(b) the number of applications registered and the number of feasibility approvals granted under
the yojana in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(c) the number of SC/ST households that have benefited under the yojana in Andhra Pradesh,
district-wise;
(d) whether a model solar village has been set up in each district of Andhra Pradesh and if so, the
details thereof including the expected timeline for completion and if not, the reasons therefor;
(e) the amount of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) approved and released under the yojana in
Andhra Pradesh along with the number of households approved for subsidy and the amount of
funds approved and released, district-wise; and
(f) whether the Government has enabled beneficiary households under the yojana to sell surplus
electricity generated from rooftop solar systems to the grid and if so, the rate at which such
electricity is purchased in Andhra Pradesh?

(a) to (c) The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) was launched in February 2024
only. The scheme is demand-driven, wherein all residential consumers in the country, including
the SC/ST consumers, having a grid-connected electricity connection with the local DISCOM, can
avail the benefits of the scheme by applying on the National Portal of the scheme.
The district-wise detail of applications submitted, feasibility approvals granted by DISCOMs, and
the total number of households, including SC/ST households, installed rooftop solar plants under
the scheme in the state of Andhra Pradesh, as on 14.07.2025, is given at Annexure.
(d): As per operational guidelines issued for the Model Solar Village component of PMSG: MBY,
the selection of village to be developed as Model Solar Village is based on challenge mode, for 6
month timeframe out of the villages shortlisted by the District Level Committee. In Andhra
Pradesh, the Challenge mode is reported to be initiated in 6 districts.(e): Under the PMSG: MBY, as of 14.07.2025, Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of Rs 222.94
crore has been released to 28,840 households in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The district-wise
detail is given at Annexure.
(f): As per Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (The Grid Interactive Solar
Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems under Net/Gross Metering) Regulation, 2023, issued by the Andhra
Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) in February 2024, any surplus solar energy
generated and exported into the grid during a month by a residential consumer under net-metering
arrangement will be paid by the respective DISCOM at Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) fixed by APERC. The
present FIT fixed by APERC under the net-metering arrangement is Rs. 2.09 per kWh in the State
of Andhra Pradesh.
