GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 1379 ANSWERED ON 11/02/2026 BHOPAL-OBEDULLAGANJ FOUR -LANE ROAD TO A SIX-LANE ROAD 1379. SMT. MAYA NAROLIYA: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether Government is aware that thousands of workers, students and local residents compute daily between Bhopal and Obedullaganj and due to the presence of industrial areas, Mandideep and educational institutions, there is regular traffic congestion; (b) if so, whether there is any proposal under consideration of Government to upgrade the said road from four lanes to six lanes; and (c) if so, the current status thereof and the likely date for the commencement of the work? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (c): The existing Misrod (Bhopal)–Obedullaganj section of NH-46 is 4-lane road and preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been taken up for upgradation to 6-lane configuration to meet the traffic requirement. The commencement of work will be taken up after completion of DPR and acquisition of land and other clearances required for the project. *****
