INDU BALA GOSWAMI: Will the Minister of Road Transport and Highways be pleased to state: (a) the reasons behind non-commissioning of Bijli Mahadev Ropeway Project in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh; (b) the amount of money planned to be spent on the said project; and (c) whether the Department of Forest has given clearance for the said ropeway project? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) The project execution activities have been suspended due to protests in July 2025 and manhandling of the site personnel by the residents demanding to stop the Bijli Mahadev ropeway project, citing concerns of cultural, historical significance and sanctity of the Bijli Mahadev Temple. (b) & (c) The project is awarded on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) with a cost of Rs. 272 crore. Forest Clearance for the project has already been obtained. *****
