GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2474 ANSWERED ON MONDAY THE 03RD AUGUST, 2026 SHRAVANA 12, 1948 (SAKA) BUDGET OF PM INTERNSHIP SCHEME QUESTION 2474. Shri Balashowry Vallabhaneni: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the details of Budget Estimates and Revised Estimates of PM Internship Scheme since its implementation in 2024-25, year-wise; (b) whether it is true that the project is still at pilot stage or the Government has started implementing the main scheme and if so, the details thereof; (c) the status of implementation of PM Internship Scheme in Andhra Pradesh, year- wise; and (d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to improve the above scheme? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a): The Year-wise details of Budget Estimates and Revised Estimates of PM Internship Scheme, since its inception is placed at Annexure – I. (b): As an initiation to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), which was announced in the Budget 2024-25, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched a Pilot Project on 3rd October, 2024. Two rounds of the Pilot Project have been completed and Round III of the Pilot Project is currently ongoing with revised guidelines issued on 12.03.2026. (c): The round wise details of number of Internship opportunities posted, offers made by the companies, offers accepted by candidates and candidates joined from the state of Andhra Pradesh in the PMIS Pilot Project is placed at Annexure – II. (d): Based on the learning during the implementation of the Round I and Round II of the PMIS Pilot Project, the revised guidelines of the PMIS Pilot Project have been issued on 12.03.2026 with the following key changes:a. A flexible duration of internships of either 6 or 9 months based on the company’s requirements is provided. b. The monthly allowance has been enhanced from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 9000. c. The age requirement for youth has been relaxed from 21–24 to 18–25 years. Further, candidates who have a master’s degree and students from final year of graduation/post-graduation are eligible to participate. d. Scope of companies/organizations eligible to participate has been expanded. e. Adopted a rolling internship cycle allowing continuous posting, selection, and onboarding. In addition, portal has been enhanced by introducing features such as geo-tagging of internship locations, facilitating the transfer of vacancies and candidates across locations, and enhancing the visibility of additional benefits provided by companies to candidates. Further, targeted Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities have also been carried out to increase awareness, alongside active engagement and coordination with States/UTs and industry associations to expand the scheme's outreach and participation. *****Annexure - I Annexure - I to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2474 part (a) to be answered on 03.08.2026.
