Parliament Question: Central Budgetary Assistance for Mahanadi-Rushikulya Interlinking Project

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF JAL SHAKTI DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES, RIVER DEVELOPMENT & GANGA REJUVENATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 861 ANSWERED ON 23.07.2026 CENTRAL BUDGETARY ASSISTANCE FOR MAHANADI-RUSHIKULYA INTERLINKING PROJECT 861. Dr. PRADEEP KUMAR PANIGRAHY: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has received any proposal for Central Budgetary Assistance or external funding assistance for implementation of the Mahanadi–Rushikulya Interlinking Project in Odisha and if so, the details thereof; (b) the details of the financial allocations considered or approved for the said project under the current fiscal plan; and (c) the status of coordination with the Ministry of Jal Shakti regarding techno-economic clearance of the project and the fund release timelines for this water resource security initiative? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY) (a) The Ministry has not received any proposal from the Government of Odisha seeking Central Budgetary Assistance or external funding support for the implementation of the Mahanadi–Rushikulya Interlinking Project. (b) & (c) In the absence of any proposal regarding financial assistance or techno-economic appraisal of the Mahanadi–Rushikulya Interlinking Project, the questions regarding financial allocation, techno-economic clearance, and timelines for release of funds do not arise. *****
