(a) the number of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for Horticulture crops established under
the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) in the country, State/UT and
cropwise;
(b) the key objectives, activities and outcomes of these Centres in terms of technology
transfer, farmers trained and productivity enhancement;
(c) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for the establishment and
operation of these CoEs during the last five years, State-wise; and
(d) whether any CoEs have been set up/proposed to be setup/any proposals from the
State of Andhra Pradesh are pending and if so, the details thereof including focus crops,
current status and fund utilisation?

(a): Under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), a total of 58
Centres of Excellence have been approved across various States in the country. The state-

(b): The Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in horticulture are established with the aim of
serving as hubs for demonstration, training, and dissemination of the latest technologies in
horticultural production by promoting capacity building, production of planting material and
adoption of new technologies in horticulture sector. The primary objective of CoEs is to
transfer knowledge and practical skills to farmers, entrepreneurs and extension workers
through providing trainings, thereby enhancing productivity, quality, and sustainability in the
horticulture sector through adoption of protected cultivation, micro-irrigation, and other
modern practices. By showcasing modern innovations and providing hands-on training,
CoEs play a vital role in bridging the gap between research and field-level adoption.
The outcome of these CoEs includes training of over 4.9 lakh farmers and 2,200
field officers/extension workers across States, facilitation of adoption of modern horticulture
technologies at farm level, contribution towards increase in productivity and quality of
targeted crops.(c): Under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), funds for the
establishment for various project based activities including Centres of Excellence (CoEs)
are allocated to various States as per their approved Annual Action Plan (AAPs) received
from the States through State Level Executive Committee (SLEC), availability of resources
and requirement of States. Similarly, funds are released in instalments as per Government
of India norms, subject to availability of budget, compliance with physical and financial
progress, and submission of Utilisation Certificates (UCs) and physical progress reports by
the States. The State-wise details of funds allocated and released during last five years are
at Annexure - I.
(d): Under MIDH, there are two Centre of Excellence for Flowers & Vegetables and
Vegetable & Spices has been established with Israel as technical partner at Kuppam,
Chittoor and Gundlapalli, Palnadu District respectively. Further, there is no proposal for
establishment of a Centre of Excellence from Andhra Pradesh pending with this
