(a)to(e) The extant normsfor openingof a newCGHS WellnessCentre,inter-alia,include
minimum 2500 principal CGHS Cardholders or 6000 CGHS beneficiaries subject to availability
of resources, suitable accommodations, creation of posts of Medical Officers, Pharmacists, Staff
Nurse, Clerical Staff etc. The sanction of posts and allocation of funds for opening of these
WellnessCentresisunderthe ambit of Department of Expenditure,Ministry of Finance.
At present there are 15 CGHS Wellness Centres including 4 AYUSH Centers functioning
in Karnataka. In addition, 01 CGHS Polyclinic is also functioning in Bengaluru, Karnataka. A
proposal for setting up 22new CGHS Wellness Centres including three in the Stateof Karnataka
(Mangaluru, ShivamoggaandUdupi) have beenrecentlyapproved.
The details regardingtotalnumber of sanctionedposts of doctors andparamedicalstaff in
these CGHS Wellness Centres of Karnataka along with number of vacant posts, CGHS Wellness
Centre-wise, are at Annexure.
Filling up posts of Doctors andParamedical staff is a continuous process. To fill up these
vacant posts of Doctors and Paramedical Staff, the requisitions are sent to UPSC and SSC
respectively. Based on the recommendation from UPSC and SSC, they are posted against vacant
posts. Some retired Government specialists doctors are appointed on contractual basis to bridge
the shortfall of Specialists.ANNEXURE
