(a) the current status of the Namami Gange Programme in West Bengal and the details of all 27 sewage
infrastructure projects including details of completed, ongoing and pending projects along with the funds
sanctioned for each of them;
(b) the number of Ghat and Crematoria projects initiated under this programme in West Bengal along with
the present status thereof;
(c) the specific challenges being faced in the execution of Namami Gange projects in West Bengal and the
steps being taken by the Government to address these challenges; and
(d) the total funds allocated and utilized under the Namami Gange Programme in West Bengal till date?

(a) Under the Namami Gange Programme (NGP), a total of 31 projects at a cost of ₹4,605.72 crore have
been sanctioned in West Bengal, out of which 16 projects have been completed and made operational. The
detailed list of projects, along with the sanctioned cost, is enclosed at Annexure I.
(b) Under the NGP in West Bengal, a total of 10 projects, comprising 14 ghats and 9 crematoria, have been
sanctioned at a cost of ₹49.67 crore. Out of these, 13 ghats and 3 crematoria have been completed and
handed over to the respective Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
(c) The identification of suitable land for the establishment of new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and
issue of statutory clearances like right of way for sewage-related networks have emerged as major
challenges. To address and overcome these challenges, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has
been actively involved in closely monitoring the status of the projects. NMCG regularly conducts
comprehensive review meetings under the chairmanship of competent authority and through Central
Monitoring Committee (CMC) to evaluate progress, identify potential roadblocks, and ensure timely
resolutions.
(d) The details of funds disbursed to various agencies, including State Missions for Clean Ganga in the
State of West Bengal, for the implementation of projects/interventions under the Namami Gange
Programme from its inception (FY 2014–15) till 30 June 2025 are enclosed at Annexure II.
