(b) whether the Government has approved or sanctioned funds for new medical facilities, mobile

(c) the steps being taken by the Government to address shortages of doctors, nurses and essential

(a): As per Health Dynamics of India (HDI) report 2022-23, State Government of Meghalaya has 11
District Hospitals, 122Rural and25 UrbanPrimaryHealthCentres(PHCs) and28Rural and1 Urban

(b): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare provides technical and financial support to the
States/UTs to strengthen the public healthcare system, based on the proposals receivedin the form of
Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs) under National Health Mission. Government of India
provides approval for the proposal in the form of Record of Proceedings (RoPs) as per norms &
available resources. As per ROPfor the year 2024-25, a total of Rs. 407.71 Crore has been approved
for the State of Meghalaya and there has been an expenditure of Rs. 393.01Crore under NHM for
various programmes which includes development of new medical facilities, mobile health units or
telemedicineservicesinthehillregionsoftheState.Alsofortheyear2025-26,therehasbeenapproval
of Rs. 430.33Crore for the StateunderNHM.(c): As perthe information providedby the StateGovernment of Meghalaya,the Meghalaya Medical
Services Recruitment Board (MMSRB) hasbeen constituted to streamline the process of recruitment
ofgeneral& specialistdoctors.TherecruitmentofNursesandAlliedHealthisalsothrough MMSRB.
Further, Doctors from Meghalaya were also trained for six months of specialized training in
Comprehensive EmergencyMaternalObstetric Care(CeMOC), life-savinganaesthetic skills(LSAS),
and Ultrasonography. The State has started the Meghalayan Medical Drugs and Services Limited
(MMDSL) which is an agency which is responsible for the procurement of drugs and medical
equipment for the health facilities, to streamline a system for indenting, supplying, maintaining, and
disposing of drugs/medicines, toimprove the managementof drug procurementandsupply, toensure
availability of essential drugs and to have on time delivery of all essential drugs, medicines and
medicalandsurgical itemsthroughout the State includingremote villages.
