On February 9, 2026, Shri Tatkare Sunil Dattatrey asked the Minister of Education about the methodology of collecting UDISE+ Data from schools, whether the government is aware that over 13.2 lakh schools have not reported the total number of classrooms, the steps taken by the Government to ensure timely and accurate data, and the initiatives being taken to expand the variables on which information is collected under UDISE+ Data.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, answered that the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) developed by DOSEL collects data from all recognised schools. The data is filled in directly by the schools using the portal http://udiseplus.gov.in/# and validated and verified at Block, District and State level. Regular correspondences, monitoring and review meetings are undertaken with States/UTs to address data quality and ensure timely and accurate reporting. In 2022-23, the UDISE+ application was revitalized by creating a student registry to capture individual student-wise details.

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the methodology of collecting UDISE+ Data from schools in the country;
(b) whether the Government is aware that over 13.2 lakh schools have not reported the total number of
classrooms they have in the UDISE+ Data for the year 2024-25 and if so, the details thereof,
(c) the details of steps taken by the Government to ensure that schools give timely and accurate data to
Ministry of Education to support its various policy initiatives; and
(d) whether any initiatives are being taken by the Government to expand the variables on which
information is collected under UDISE+ Data and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): The Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) developed by DOSEL
collects data from all recognised schools’ details on various aspects of on school. Data in UDISE Plus is
filled in directly by the schools using the portal viz., http://udiseplus.gov.in/#. UDISE Plus data are
validated and verified at Block, District and State level for ensuring its authenticity.
Regular correspondences, monitoring and review meetings with States/UTs are undertaken to
address the data quality and to ensure its timely and accurate, reporting on UDISE+ portal. For the first
time in 2022-23, UDISE+ application has been revitalized by creating a student registry to capture
individual student wise details.
