GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 2576 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 16th March 2026 COMMENCEMENT OF A NEW FLIGHT SERVICE ON THE DELHI- AGARTALA ROUTE 2576. SHRI RAJIB BHATTACHARJEE Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether there is any proposal or plan under consideration to commence a new flight service on the Delhi-Agartala route; (b) if so, the details of the proposed number of flights, the tentative timeline and the names of the airlines concerned; (c) whether there is any proposal to allocate additional slots on this route in view of the increasing passenger traffic; and (d) whether this route has been included under any special incentive scheme to strengthen regional connectivity? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (d): With the repeal of Air Corporations Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation was fully deregulated. Airlines are free to induct capacity with any type of aircraft, free to select whatever markets and network they wish to service. Hence, it is upto the airline operators to introduce air services to / from any airport in the country depending on their operational & commercial viability. However, such operations are subject to compliance with the Route Dispersal Guidelines (RDGs) issued by the Government, slot allocation by the respective airport operators and approval of flight schedules by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). At present, no specific proposal regarding inclusion of the Delhi-Agartala route under any special incentive scheme is under consideration in the Ministry. ******
