COMMENCEMENT OF FLIGHTS FROM HISAR AIRPORT

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) the steps taken by the Government to promote air connectivity in Hisar and Haryana;
(b) whether any concrete action plan has been prepared to connect Hisar Airport with
commercial flights under the UDAN scheme and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any airline operator has so far been granted permission to operate flights from
Hisar to Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur or other major cities and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any budgetary provisions have been made for airport expansion, runway
upgradation, terminal building and air traffic control facilities at Hisar; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the progress made so far and the expected timeline
fixed for completion of the upcoming phases?
ANSWER

(a) to (c): Regional Connectivity Scheme-Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN) is market
driven scheme in which the unserved and underserved airstrips/airports are listed for bidding
by airlines to provide connectivity. Bidding rounds are conducted periodically for covering
more destinations across the country, including Haryana.
Hisar Airport, owned by State Goverment of Haryana, was identified during the second round
of bidding under this scheme.
RCS routes connecting Hisar to Chandigarh, Dharamshala and Dehradun were awarded to
Air Taxi. However, these services were discontinued by the Selected Airline Operator (SAO),
citing poor visibility issues at Hisar Airport.
Presently Alliance Air is operating State VGF supported flights on Hisar- Delhi, Hisar -
Ayodhya and Hisar -Chandigarh routes.
(d) & (e): An expenditure of Rs.29.21 crore was incurred for its development and the airport
was initially licensed under the 2B category. The State Government of Haryana has further
upgraded the airport at its own cost. The airport has now been licensed for 4C category
airport effective from 13.03.2025.
