**Summary:**
In response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 4787, addressed on August 21, 2025, the Ministry of Civil Aviation outlined the government's efforts to develop commercial aerorelated manufacturing in India. The government is actively encouraging the growth of an ecosystem supporting the manufacturing of aircraft, including Regional Transport Aircraft, and related components, involving both public and private enterprises. These efforts are focused on addressing technological gaps within the industry.
Specifically, CSIR-NAL (Bengaluru) has developed the Hansa 3 NG, a two-seater trainer aircraft, which has been type-certified by the DGCA for use by Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) in commercial pilot training. An Expression of Interest (EoI) has been issued to identify a firm for the commercial production of the Hansa 3 NG.
Several private sector entities are already engaged in the design, development, and manufacture of commercial aircraft components, systems, and assemblies. These include: Tata Advanced Systems Ltd., Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd., Dynamatic Technologies Ltd., Bharat Forge Ltd., Aequs Ltd., Godrej Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

(a) whether the Government has taken steps to develop commercial aero-related
manufacturing in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether commercial aero-related manufacturing is being undertaken by private
manufacturers in the country; and
(d) if so, the details thereof, company and product-wise?

(a) and (b) The Government has been encouraging the development of the ecosystem for the
manufacturing of aircraft, including Regional Transport Aircraft and associated components
by public and private enterprises in India. The steps taken by the Government aim to bridge
the technological gaps faced by the industry. CSIR-NAL, Bengaluru, a constituent laboratory
of CSIR has developed indigenous 2- seater trainer aircraft Hansa - 3 (NG) and type certified
by DGCA for use by Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) for commercial pilot training. For
commercial production of Hansa-3(NG) an EoI has been issued to identify the prospective
firm to take up manufacturing. ;
