Parliament Question: Conservation and Restoration of Motilal Begum Mahal and Rai Bahadur Fort

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3671 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.08.2026 CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF MOTILAL BEGUM MAHAL AND RAI BAHADUR FORT †3671. DR. FAGGAN SINGH KULASTE: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has taken cognizance of the dilapidated condition of Motilal Begum Mahal and Rai Bahadur Fort at Ramnagar in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh; (b) if so, the action taken so far for protection, maintenance and restoration; (c) whether the Government is formulating any special plan for the restoration of these historical monuments for their conservation and tourism development; and (d) if so, the details of proposed financial provisions, implementing agency and the likely time-frame for completion thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) There are 291 Centrally Protected Monuments and Sites in Madhya Pradesh State under & the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Conservation and (b) maintenance of all these monuments/ sites are carried out as per the need and availability of resources. These monuments/sites are in a good state of preservation. The Monuments namely Motilal Begum Mahal and Rai Bahadur Fort at Ramnagar in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh are not Protected Monuments under the jurisdiction of ASI. However, there are 9 monuments protected by State Government in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. The list of these monuments is attached as Annexure I. (c) No such proposal is under consideration with ASI, as the monuments are not protected & monuments of ASI.
