Parliament Question: Corruption in "Har ghar nal se jal" scheme in Gujarat

SHRI SHAKTISINH GOHIL: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) the number of instances of corruption, irregularities and malpractices that have been found in "Har ghar nal se jal" scheme in the State of Gujarat; (b) whether any penalty has been imposed in the State due to these irregularities; (c) if so, the percentage of the said irregularities; and (d) whether any criminal cases have been filed against those responsible for these irregularities in "Har ghar nal se jal" scheme in the State of Gujarat? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI V. SOMANNA) (a) to (d) As informed by the State Government of Gujarat, five (05) cases of corruption/ irregularities have been reported under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the State. In these cases, the State Government has imposed penalties amounting to Rs. 124.58 crore. Further, it has been reported that FIRs have been registered in two cases against the individuals responsible for the irregularities. *****
