Shri Manoj Kumar: Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ(cid:874)ष एवं (cid:873)कसान क(cid:227)याण मं(cid:287)ी be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware that in areas like Shivsagar and Karhagarh in Rohtas (Sasaram), crops are frequently damaged due to short circuits in old and damaged electric wires; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the policy and steps taken by the Government to compensate affected farmers and coordinate with the electricity department to prevent such incidents ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ(cid:874)ष एवं (cid:873)कसान क(cid:227)याण रा(cid:207)य मं(cid:287)ी (SHRI RAMNATH THAKUR) (a) & (b) : As informed by the State Government, some incidences of crop damage due to short circuits in old and damaged electric wires has been reported in Shivsagar Block covering damage of about 21 acre in wheat crop. (c) The State of Bihar does not implement Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Further, losses due to fire on account of short circuit is not covered under the scheme. However, as informed by the State Government of Bihar, Department of Disaster Management has policy to compensate crop loss of more than 33% for natural disaster as well as loss due to fire incidence as per SDRF norms. On the report of District Magistrate of the concerned district, the compensation amount is released. Department of Energy, Government of Bihar regularly monitors the maintenance of loose wire as well as electric transformers. *****
