GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 97 ANSWERED ON Monday, July 20, 2026/Ashadha 29, 1948 (Saka) CSR SPENDING IN WEST BENGAL Question 97 Shri Bapi Haldar: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government maintains district-level data on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spending by companies, particularly in ecologically vulnerable and economically backward coastal areas like Mathurapur and the Sundarbans; (b) if so, the details of CSR funds spent and projects undertaken by companies in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal during the last five years, sector-wise and company-wise; (c) whether the Government has issued any advisory or directive to corporates to prioritize regions prone to natural disasters like cyclones and floods under their CSR activities, if so, the details thereof; and (d) whether the Government proposes to bring transparency and public accessibility to realtime CSR expenditure at the constituency level and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a) & (b): Yes Sir. All data related to CSR expenditure filed by companies in MCA21 registry including state-wise, year-wise, company-wise and project-wise is available in public domain at www.csr.gov.in. On the basis of annual filings made by companies in the MCA 21 registry, development sector-wise CSR expenditure in the district South 24 Parganas in State of West Bengal during the last five financial years from 2020-21 to FY 2024-25, are attached at Annexure. (c): Under the Act, CSR is a Board driven process and the Board of the company is empowered to plan, decide, execute and monitor the CSR activities based on the recommendations of its CSR Committee. This Committee formulates and Contd…-2- recommends the CSR policy, which outlines the activities to be undertaken by the company in alignment with the areas or subjects specified in Schedule VII of the Act. Item (xii) of the said Schedule already covers subject “disaster management including relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities”. The Government does not issue any directions to Corporates to spend in any particular area or activity. (d): Details of CSR expenditure at constituency level is not maintained centrally.
