Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to
state:
(a)the details of the total number of ESIC hospitals currently
operational in the country, State/UT-wise and location-wise;
(b)the procedure and criteria followed by the Government for
establishing new ESIC hospitals;
(c)whether the Government considers to establish ESIC hospitals
where land is offered at nominal lease rates including Jalgaon Lok
Sabha Constituency, Maharashtra and if so, the details thereof;
(d)whether the Government is aware that workers in the Khandesh
region are required to travel over 200 km to access ESIC healthcare
facilities; and
(e)if so, the details thereof and the timeline for establishment of ESIC
hospital in Jalgaon?

(a) to (e): Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) accords
approval for setting up of new ESI hospitals as per its pre-defined norms. As
per norms, minimum 50,000 and 1,00,000 present Insured Person (IP)
population / futuristic number of IP population in upcoming 05 years is
required within radius of 25 Kms of proposed location for setting up of 100
bedded and 150 bedded ESI hospital respectively. In case of North Eastern
Region / Hilly area, a minimum of 15,000 IP is required for setting up of 100
bedded hospitals. Further, ESIC contemplate proposals where land is
offered free of cost or at concessional and nominal lease rates by the State
Government subject to fulfilling ESIC norms and suitability of the land. The
details of the total number of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospitals
currently operational in the country, State/UT-wise and location-wise, is
annexed.

Maharashtra. ESI Corporation has sanctioned a 100 bedded ESI hospital at
Jalgaon. The project is at land acquisition stage. There are 05 ESI
Dispensaries, 04 Insurance Medical Practitioners (IMPs), 23 Secondary Tie-
up Hospitals and 15 super specialty treatment (SST) Tie up Hospitals in
