SPORTSPERSONS
798. SHRI SANA SATHISH BABU:
Will the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports be pleased to state:
(a) the number of sportspersons who have benefitted under the Deendayal Upadhyay
National Welfare Programme for sportspersons during the last three years, State-wise;
(b) the funds sanctioned and disbursed under the programme during the same period;
(c) whether any beneficiaries are from Andhra Pradesh, particularly from Kakinada district;
and
(d) the measures being taken to enhance awareness, simplify application procedures and
ensure timely financial assistance to eligible sportspersons?

(a) to (c): The number of sportspersons benefitted under Pandit Deendayal National
Welfare Program for Sportspersons in the last three financial years, state wise beneficiary

(d): The Government has adopted a series of measures to ensure timely and transparent
disbursal of financial assistance under the Pandit Deendayal National Welfare Program For
Sportspersons such as the implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism for
disbursement and dedicated online portal (https://dbtyas-sports.gov.in) to digitize the process
of inviting applications, thus ensuring the timely and efficient disbursement of financial
assistance to beneficiaries. Under this system, financial assistance is directly transferred into
the bank accounts of the beneficiary thereby eliminating delays, reduces administrative
bottlenecks, and ensures that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries in a timely and
efficient manner.
