In response to Unstarred Question No. 1097 addressed to the Minister of Defence on December 5, 2025, regarding Defence manufacturing schemes, Minister of State (Shri Sanjay Seth) states that there is no centrally sponsored scheme for defence manufacturing in the Ministry of Defence. However, sixteen Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), including seven newly incorporated entities formed on October 1, 2021, from the corporatization of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and its 41 ordnance factories, are spread across various regions of the country. These DPSUs have a presence in different States/Union Territories and collectively enable self-reliance in the defence sector.
