SHRI AMRA RAM: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) whether the payment for construction of model toilets under the Swachhata Mission has not been made even after seven years by the Gram Panchayats of Sikar Lok Sabha Constituency and if so, the reasons therefor and the authority responsible for the same; and (b) the current status of Swachh Bharat Mission across the country? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI V. SOMANNA) (a) As informed by the Government of Rajasthan, payments for model toilets constructed in Gram Panchayats of Sikar Lok Sabha Constituency could not be made within timeline by the concerned District Authorities. (b) Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) [SBM(G)] was launched on 2nd October, 2014 with the aim to eliminate open defecation in rural areas by 2nd October, 2019. All the villages of the country declared themselves Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 2nd October, 2019. Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) [SBM(G)] is being implemented during the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26, with the focus on Open Defecation Free (ODF) sustainability and to cover all the villages with solid and liquid waste management i.e. converting the villages from ODF to ODF Plus (Model). So far, 4,72,076 Villages have been declared as ODF Model Villages. *****
