SHRI CHARANJIT SINGH CHANNI: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) whether any delays in completing surface water supply projects in Jalandhar have exacerbated flooding and waterlogging during the 2025 monsoon season; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the timeline set for commissioning the remaining phases of these projects; and (c) the funds allocated under the Jal Jeevan Mission, specifically for urban water infrastructure upgrades in Jalandhar? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI V. SOMANNA) (a) to (c) Government of India in partnership with States/ UTs is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to make provision of potable tap water supply to every rural household of the country. As reported by Government of Punjab, all rural households have been covered with drinking water supply, and no rural surface water supply project is under implementation in Jalandhar. Drinking water is a State subject. Power to plan, design, approve and implement drinking water supply schemes are vested with respective States. Further, JJM specifically covers rural households in the country, and therefore urban water infrastructure projects are not covered under JJM. ****
