for the development, upgradation and modernisation of various
airports under the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Public-
Private Partnership (PPP) mode across the country during the last
five years and the current year, year and State-wise, particularly in
Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh;
(b) the details and nature of the projects undertaken along with the
timeline fixed for their completion; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government for efficient utilisation of
funds and timely completion of the said projects across the country,
State-wise including Madhya Pradesh?

(a) to (c): The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and PPP Partners
have incurred a CAPEX of more than Rs. 96000 crore during FY
2019-20 to FY 2024-25 on the development / upgradation /
modernisation of various airports in the country to meet the
requirement of Air traffic / passengers' growth which includes new
airports, expansions/ modification of existing terminals, addition of
new passenger facilities, New terminals, expansions / strengtheningof existing runways, aprons, Air Navigation Services (ANS) work like
control tower, technical block etc.;
This includes AAI's share of more than Rs. 25,000 crore and
remaining by Private Airport Operators/Developers. AAI incurs
Capital Expenditure mainly from its own resources and in some part
from the Budgetary grant of (a) Rs. 4500 crore allocated for
revival/upgradation of unserved and underserved
Airports/Heliports/Water Aerodromes under Phase I of the Regional
Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (RCS-UDAN) and
(b) Rs.1000 crore allocated in Phase-II of the RCS-UDAN to revive
additional airports, heliports, water aerodromes and advanced
landing grounds during the period 2023-24 to 2025-26.

sources.

Based on the reconciled figures for the National Infrastructure

Upgradation/ Modernisation of airports is a continuous process and
is undertaken by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other
Airport Operators/Developers from time to time depending on the
availability of land, commercial viability, socio-economic
considerations, traffic demand / willingness of airlines to operate
to/from such airports. Since FY 2019-20, airport projects have been
undertaken by AAI and Private airport operators/developers at
several airports across the country including at Delhi, Bengaluru,
Hyderabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Mopa, Navi Mumbai,
Noida (Jewar), Bhogapuram, Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Sindhudurg,
Hollongi, Dholera, Dehradun, Agartala, Patna, Vijayawada, Deoghar,

The timeline for construction of airport projects depends upon
several factors such as land acquisition, availability of mandatory
clearances, financial closure, etc. by the Project Proponents.;
Ministry of Civil Aviation periodically reviews the progress of airport
projects by holding meetings with the State Governments, airport
developers and other stakeholders to ensure the timely completion
of the airport projects. AAI also internally reviews its Projects.
