GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS (DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS) RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO- 1590 ANSWERED ON – 12/02/2026 DEVELOPMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CENTENARY COMMONWEALTH GAMES 1590 SHRI PARIMAL NATHWANI: Will the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports be pleased to state: (a) the details of specific sports venues identified in Ahmedabad to host the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games (CWG); (b) the current status of construction of "Sports Village" and other athlete accommodation facilities in the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar corridor; and (c) whether Government has a timeline for completion of all sports-related infrastructure to ensure testing and trial events before 2030? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) (a) to (c) Government of Gujarat, the host state for Commonwealth Games 2030 and Indian Olympic Association, which is the member of Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and is known as Commonwealth Games Association of India (CGAI), have taken due care in their assessment of the existing sports infrastructure and facilities, accommodation and other logistical requirements for successful hosting of the Games. Further, the sports programme for Commonwealth Games 2030 is under finalization by Commonwealth Sport. Moreover, Creation/Augmentation of sports infrastructure and sports facilities is an ongoing and continuous process. “Sports” being a State subject, primary responsibility for creation and development of sports infrastructure and facility is that of the State Governments. The State Governments are being supported by the Ministry under its Khelo India Scheme for sports infrastructure / facilities. The details of sports infrastructure created/developed in States for which the Ministry has provided support under Khelo India Scheme is available in public domain on the dashboard of the Ministry at: https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in. In addition to the above, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports implements various schemes for the development of sports across the country. Details of the schemes are available in the public domain on the website of this Ministry and on the website of Sports Authority of India.
