ANSWER Minister of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu) (a) to (e) A statement is laid on the table of House. ******STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (E) IN RESPECT OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 74 FOR REPLY ON 23.07.2026 REGARDING "DEVELOPMENT OF JALGAON AIRPORT" BY SMT. SMITA UDAY WAGH (a) to (e) The development of cargo facilities at an airport is a continuous process and depends on various factors such as airport development progress, increase in scheduled operations, handling capacity, growth in domestic cargo volumes and demand from airlines. Further, the exporters, based on their commercial viability and requirements, utilize available air cargo facilities in accordance with various determining factors, including the destination, airline operations and the availability of direct or connecting services to the intended destinations. The airlines initiate cargo operations based on their internal assessment of cargo potential, handling capabilities and overall commercial viability of operating from any airport. Facilities are available for movement of domestic air cargo via the domestic passenger terminal at Jalgaon airport. The Nashirabad-Umale Road passes through the airport land, creating an obstruction to the proposed runway extension. Accordingly, the road needs to be rerouted to enable the airport land to become contiguous and free from operational obstructions. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has prepared a proposal, for expansion of the terminal building from 700 sqm to approximately 1500 sqm, with capacity to handle 300 PAX (150 departing and 150 arriving passengers) during peak hours, along with allied passenger amenities and associated infrastructure, subject to requisite Government approvals, availability of land, and statutory/regulatory clearances. Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni-Directional Range/Distance Measuring Equipment (DVOR/DME) navigational facilities have been installed and operationalised w.e.f. 16.05.2024 at Jalgaon Airport. Under the UDAN Scheme, Jalgaon Airport was identified for development and operation of UDAN flights. At present, Fly91 is operating UDAN flights connecting Jalgaon-Hyderabad-Jalgaon, Jalgaon-New Goa (MoPA)-Jalgaon and Jalgaon-Pune-Jalgaon. Further, Alliance Air has commenced UDAN flight operations on the Jalgaon-Mumbai-Jalgaon and Jalgaon-Ahmedabad-Jalgaon routes. ******
